Kastle Mills ready to launch 3D full contour ZirCrown

As our current market transitions over to Full Contour digital crowns driven by a recent production surge from some of Canada's Largest Full Service Dental Manufacturing Laboratories - it is essential that Kastle Mills acts to provide a quality esthetic Zirconia crown for our clients at the right price!

Your dental lab is probably feeling the pressure from your dentist partners to `meet the advertised esthetic requirements' of products like Bruxir and Opalite in a Full Contour Zirconia Crown - then to complete such a restoration at under $200. Did you know Glidewell is milling up to 1000 BruxZir Crowns per day! or up to 5000 a week. - that's what we heard!

We have geared our operations for the past 10months towards equipment and personnel to meet this challenge and create new industry benchmarks for quality and esthetics. We anticipated this `new wave' of monolithic restorations about a year ago following trends in the US market.

Although you may be feeling `competitive pressure' from other large dental laboratories - rest assured it is nothing like the US market place. This is an opportunity for you as a dental lab owner to embrace competition and reassess your business model and processes and come out stronger than ever - staying agile and embracing change in this new emerging market place. This is unlikely a fad but a start of a necessary trend driven by price, speed and shift into digital design and manufacturing. We will be posting some interesting figures and facts provided by DIAC and other large industry `think tanks' on what is driving the industry to change so quickly now. - we will keep you posted

What we are doing to help empower dental lab owners across Canada.

We have worked over 10 months to

Create unmatched robust anatomy in our full contour digital crowns - we say unmatched because we have our own robust custom built 3Shape anatomy library (no other centre has it)

Ensure superior design and a precision fit to provide our customers with the ability to just stain and glaze - this has taken time! but we have nailed it with virtual articulation and the process of dialing in occusal relief

Provide our clients with 5axis milling and unmatched post production for better quality than any of our competitors - again refining our processes and resources

Provide the benchmark in speed for production turnarounds - partnering up up with Canada's best logistical companies for 48hour across Canada turnarounds for stl files.

We thought we had it all nailed down - We did monochromatic shading that was decent, then better with hand shading it still was not acceptable by our standards.

Want to learn about Zirconia: Making a Superior Full Contour Zirocnia Crown
Although Zirconia is after all `purpose built' to be a core, strong and translucent - it was not engineered to be a full contour restoration. Although dental labs have used the function of occulde on zirconia for some time now - the full contour zirconia crown is just too opaque.

We heard of stories of high translucency zirconia being like e.max press or like a layered zirconia crown - We have tried them all or our US counterparts have. Line up all the brands of high translucency zirconia and with the naked eye they all have a similar property - they all look somewhat opaque - yes all the brands.
Like BruxZir states and sells More brawn than beauty

Well after utilizing the most translucent zirconia that is approved for use in Canada at over 1200 Mpa and a shading recipe with roots in Germany and perfected by a few friends in the US and Canada - we have finally started to zero in on that as Walter puts it `a zirconia crown that is alive'.

These pictures were from `our search' for best product as work to further refine this zirconia restoration recipe - we have about another month before the product release - we recently sent a few singles into Alberta and the feedback was - the best they have seen to date.

We just wanted to let you know we are working hard for you to produce a product will exceed your dentist partners expectations for full contour zirconia restorations in Canada. ` a benchmark'

This full contour zirconia crown (90 percent) will be released in less than 30 days for production $59.99 (design file) a unit and $99.99 (we design) plus 3D shade option $8.00 a unit

3D shade is a unique clinical recipe that includes techniques refined to provide three dimensional - shade properties, fluorescence and combines new shades far outside the scope of Vita Classic. Alot of work but we are almost there!

We will keep you posted on a launch date for this new 3D Full Contour Zirconia with all specs and clinical studies.

Marketing 101 - How to Attract New Dentist Partners

Maverick Dental Lab Drives Patient Referrals to Clients

A new fleet of delivery cars has turned into a double bonus for Maverick Dental Lab, Export, Pennsylvania: it’s saving on delivery costs and reaping the benefits of a unique and effective direct-to-consumer marketing strategy.

Last June when Maverick Dental Lab’s President and Co-Owner Joe Fey and CFO Dale Chandler were number crunching to cut costs, they realized the laboratory could save 20% per year by purchasing its own delivery cars rather than reimbursing its drivers for using their own cars. Owning their own vehicles also gave Chandler—who had a fresh “consumer” perspective thanks to his background in public relations and advertising—another idea. He saw an opportunity to create a marketing campaign that raises dental health awareness and drives patients to the lab’s clients. Through that, the “Follow Me to a Great Dentist” campaign was born.

Serving southwestern Pennsylvania, the 35-person laboratory purchased four black Scion xBs and wrapped them completely with humorous images and messages designed to pique the dental consumer’s attention. For example, one car features a photo of a man with green teeth and the tagline, “Not All GREEN is Good. Follow me to a great dentist.” The cars have Maverick’s phone number and website address so consumers can get free referrals to dentists in their area. The laboratory sends the patient contact information about three dentist-clients and lets each one know his/her name was given out as a referral. “Many of the inquiries we receive are from consumers who aren’t currently seeing a dentist and have an issue that requires attention,” says Larry Albensi, co-owner.

In addition to the cost of the cars, the lab invested about $10,000 on the campaign, which covered the cost of hiring a professional photographer and actors/models for a day-long photo shoot in Pittsburgh, graphic design firm services and printing the adhesive wraps for the cars.

The investment has been worth it: since getting the vehicles out on the road in December, the lab gets at least three calls a week and, due to Maverick’s overall regional marketing campaigns this past year—which included direct mailings, seminars with nationally recognized speakers and one full-time sales rep—the lab has seen substantial growth. In fact, it just added another delivery car and route to its fleet.

“Whether it makes people think more about their dental situation or gets them into the chair, we are definitely raising awareness,” says Chandler. “It’s also been a lot of fun. There isn’t always a lot of humor in the dental industry and we want people to smile when they think of the name Maverick.” And consumers in their area won’t stop smiling anytime soon. “Harry the Denture Guy” is making his appearance on the newest delivery vehicle, kicking off the lab’s marketing campaign for its new next-day reline and repair service.
