3Shape Helps Blaze a `New' Path in Digital Intraoral Dentistry

Kastle Mills was recently asked to participate in a first of its kind digital solution for an Intraoral abutment solution for dentists. This was an extremely exciting collaborative initiative spearheaded by Karl Schoeman of Biomet 3i. The solution was a complete success bringing together a local leading edge dentist, a local dental lab, a technology centre and 3Shape distributor Kastle Mills, partnering with 3M ESPE and Biomet 3i.

Solution: Advanced Digital Productivity and Accuracy. To Intraoral Scan, Data Mark, Design 3i Encode Abutment on 3Shape (and manufacture) Design 3M Lava Restoration for abutment and create digital SLA Viper models all digitally at separate locations - interdependent
All Parties work from the datamarked Intraoral Scan Simultaneously and deliver products to one location, Kastle Mills, within the scope of less than a week!`ideal'

Conclusion: This was a seamless exercise of just how powerful and accurate Intraoral scanners can be.
To date we have never witnessed such a smooth flow of information - digital information that was actually transformed into precision medical devices. When you think about it, it is really amazing, digital information and measurements travelling across countries in real time coupled with leading edge technology to create these devices. When these products all come together from thousands of miles apart they all fit perfectly.

Side Notes: The Gold Nitride coated 3i Encode was a surgical work of art!

Please note that any other Encode (or any abutment case for that matter) other than this particular Intraoral beta case would undergo a complex labour intesive process or series of steps. Steps that would likely lead to an accurate final product but less accurate than this Intraoral scanning process that was achieved with 3i. Although beta - this is a real case! and a real solution on a go forward as we step from a conventional approach of dentistry into digital dentistry. Accuracy, Control, Quality and Speed were demostrated with this digital process.
